The M960 XTR crankset from Shimano is the pinnacle of crank and bottom bracket design. Shimano has taken years of knowledge about crankarm design and paired it with the ultimate in engineering to produce an integrated design that is 70 grams lighter than conventional parts.

The redesign starts with the new forging process. The arms are Shimano's Hollowtech II technology, featuring a hollow core for light weight and a tubular structure for strength and stiffness. The oversize bottom bracket spindle is permanently attached to the right crankarm via a press fit, allowing the bearings to be placed far wider apart, yielding increased rigidity and bearing surface life. Bearings are sealed cartridges, ensuring that they'll be turning smoothly for a long time.

The Mega-9 compatible chainrings are designed for improved shifting control when paired with the narrow 9 speed chains. 800 Grams!
